Moms First is fighting for America’s moms. Our mission is to win paid leave and child care as economic imperatives that allow families to thrive. Our vision is a country that values motherhood and supports moms and families. Moms First was founded in 2021 by Reshma Saujani, movement builder and founder of Girls Who Code, in response to the caregiving crisis laid bare by the COVID-19 pandemic. What began as the Marshall Plan for Moms—an urgent call to action for bold federal investment in mothers—quickly evolved into a national movement to center moms in our economic recovery and beyond. Since then, Moms First has grown into a powerful nonprofit organization driving public and private sector change, advocating for policies like paid leave and affordable child care, and mobilizing a broad coalition of moms, employers, and policymakers to transform the way America values motherhood.
