Cause Description:
The Theodore Roosevelt Council, Boy Scouts of America has been serving the youth of Nassau County, New York since 1917. The Scouting program uses the venue of the outdoors to build character, to train in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and to develop personal fitness. In carrying out these three aims the Scouting program relies on peer leadership among its youth participants so they may learn the aspects of being a leader. The Theodore Roosevelt Council operates two fantastic outdoor camp faculties, Onteora Scout Reservation in the Catskill Mountains and Schiff Scout Reservation on the east end of Long Island. Both camp facilities host structured summer camp programs as well as off season weekend camping and training courses for both youth members and volunteer leaders.
