Cause Description:
Gold Youth Arts Organization, Inc. seeks to improve the public’s understanding of and appreciation for music and marching band performance in accordance with the mission and objectives of Drum Corps International. Gold’s primary purpose is to enrich the educational, social, ethical and performing arts lives of young adults through the art of marching music instruction and performance. Gold Drum and Bugle Corps was founded in Hawthorne, CA in 2005 as an Open Class (formerly Division III) corps by Corps Director Dr. Donald L. Flaherty. We became a member of Drum Corps International in hopes of exposing more of the local youth to a positive activity. In 2010, Gold re-located to San Diego and took its first trip out of state in 2011. The corps had a very successful tour throughout Utah and Colorado that year. While the corps competed at the 2007 DCI World Championship Semifinals in Pasadena, the corps ventured to out-of-state championships for the first time in 2012. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of our members, staff and volunteers, Gold placed seventh at DCI Open Class Finals, a shining moment for the corps!
