Helping Paws International, Inc. is an all volunteer non- profit with therapy animal teams in the U.S. & Europe. Our fur-therapy teams volunteer in all areas of health care, children, and community programs. Our goal is for our therapy dog teams to bring joy, love, smiles, support, conversation & hope to adults & children who are lonely, handicapped, or confined by age or disabilities. B.A.R.K.S ®/™ (Bonding Animals, Reading, Kids, & Safety) is a fun & inspiring, all inclusive dog-based, literacy curriculum for children and adults of all skill levels including autism & brain injuries. B.A.R.K.S., the 2nd oldest dog reading program in the country, provides a safe haven from peer pressure, reading fun, help with inter-personal communication skills. Children in B.A.R.K.S. increase their reading scores an average of 1-3 grade levels/year, improve in other courses & class interactions, while also learning pet safety & the humane & ethical treatment of pets and animals Helping Paws Fur-therapy© & B.A.R.K.S. teams visits are provided free of charge.
