Cause Description:
The purpose of the Association of Church Musicians in Philadelphia—the Philadelphia Chapter of the National Association of Pastoral Musicians—is to provide educational opportunities that foster the art of musical liturgy as described in the liturgical documents of the Roman Catholic Church. In conjunction with the Office for Divine Worship in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, we support, promote and cultivate excellence in the understanding and appreciation of liturgical music. In addition, we provide spiritual and social experiences— through annual retreats and small and large group social gatherings—designed to enhance the spiritual life of pastoral musicians and to help our members connect with fellow music ministers in their local communities, the Archdiocese, and the greater Philadelphia area. The members of ACMP strive to utilize our gifts to enhance worship and prayer in ways that enable our assemblies to engage more deeply in the Paschal Mystery of Jesus Christ.
