Cause Description:
Princeton in Africa was founded in 1999 with a mission to develop young leaders committed to Africa's advancement. This summer, 25 recent graduates embarked upon yearlong fellowships in 16 countries, and we now have over 150 alumni who have served in 27 countries across Africa. Princeton in Africa Fellows serve in yearlong fellowships in fields including emergency relief, post-conflict reconstruction, public health, conservation, and social entrepreneurship; act as everyday ambassadors in a time when building bridges between cultures is critical; and inform, inspire, and engage a wide network of friends, family, and interested individuals about Africa today. Princeton in Africa alumni continue lives of service both in Africa and the U.S. long after their fellowships; serve as advocates, board members, and founders of grassroots organizations that provide scholarships and health services across Africa; and become leaders in the foreign policy community, working on issues such as the crisis in Darfur, HIV/AIDS policy, and UN reform.
